If the presidency follows the pattern of the vote, which went to black men a half-century before women of any race, or corporate boards, where one (just one) black man was generally okay before any woman (unless she was the relative of a man on the board), then a black man will become president before any woman. However, what is far more important to both victory and progress is that we stick together: that a black male candidate support the issues of equality for all females and that a female candidate support the issues of racial equality.Gloria Steinem, feminist activist
